The Composite State of the Economy Index increased by 0.7 percent in December, its largest increase in 2024.  The increase reflects a strengthening of economic activity following the ceasefire in the north.  The level of the index is still 0.8 percent lower than it was in September 2023 (before the war).

Participants in the Israeli financial system are identified using an identification code that is unique to each participant (currently known as a “bank code”), composed of two characters. The Bank of Israel announces the allocation of identification codes to two fintech firms that are in the process of connecting to the payments systems in Israel.

The Monetary Committee kept the interest rate unchanged at 4.5 percent in all its decisions in the second half of 2024. In view of the continuing war, the Monetary Committee’s policy is focusing on stabilizing the markets and reducing uncertainty, alongside price stability and supporting economic activity. The interest rate path was determined in accordance with the convergence of inflation to its target, continued stability in the financial markets, economic activity, and fiscal policy.
